lyrics

Cody Riggs was a summer helper
But he moved grain like a trooper
Justin Oser was Cody’s buddy
They both worked on the elevator

Cody’s mom said you’re damn fool crazy
You know that bin is a widow maker
Cody Said it was just one summer
Next year I’ll get something better

I don’t want to make you cry
But mom I gotta try
I ain’t old enough to drive
That combine riding high

When the bin is full it’s pretty simple
The work gets done by the grain conveyer
But when the auger jams you can’t just stare
Sometimes you gotta send someone in there

Well it was almost noon and they were almost done
All the others wen to lunch
Cody said I’m going in there
Justin said I’m ging with you

They were waking down the corn
They turned off the PTO
But unless you lock it out
No one else will know

The machine was off when the boss came back
And he wondered why it wasn’t running
So he turrned it on and it was loud as hell
That’s why no one heard ’em yell

A wall of corn began to slide
It was eight feet deep and fourty wide
Justin managed to stay above it
But Cody fell before he knew it

They were waking down the corn
They turned off the PTO
But unless you lock it out
No one else will know

Well Justin tried but he couldn’t free him
Cody’s head was almost covered
Justin managed to clear an airway
But even he was going under

The boss looked in but he couldn’t see them
And he hoped to hell they got out somehow
It took six men and thirty minutes
For Cody Riggs that was just too late

And I don’t want to make you cry
But mom I gotta try
I ain’t old enough to drive
That combine riding high
